Honor Magic V2, The Thinnest Foldable Phone on The Market

Honor recently launched their latest foldable phone, the Magic V2. The phone measures 9.9mm when folded (4.7mm when unfolded). It also has one of the lightest foldable, weighing only 231 grams.

As a comparison, the thinnest foldable mobile phone on the market so far is the Huawei Mate X3, which is as light as 239 grams. In addition, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a folded thickness of 11.2 mm and a weight of 262 grams.

Another impressive design feature of the suspended water droplet, the Magic V2, uses a new generation of Honor self-developed Luban titanium hinge, which does not require gears and has a one-piece design. The unit is 3D printed in a titanium alloy specially developed by Honor, and the folding mechanism integrates custom short screws in the hinge assembly. At the same time, this device has passed the SGS high-reliability folding quality gold standard certification and can complete 400,000 folds without worry.

The main screen (inner screen) of the Honor Magic V2 is 7.92 inches and uses LTPO OLED technology. It has a resolution of 2156 x 2344 pixels and a high refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel is HDR 10+ compliant, displaying a wider range of colors and contrast. In automatic mode, the screen brightness can reach 1600 nits to ensure great visibility in brighter environments.

Honor also includes high-frequency PWM dimming at 3840Hz, eliminating flicker and ensuring smooth animations. The main display also features a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and supports stylus input.

The Honor Magic V2 has an external screen size of 6.43 inches and uses a 10-bit OLED panel with a resolution of 2376 x 1060 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The size of the inner screen is 7.92 inches, and the screen also uses high-frequency PWM dimming technology. In automatic mode, the peak brightness of the folded screen can reach 2500 nits. That makes it one of the brightest displays on a smartphone. In addition, the folded screen supports stylus input, allowing users to take notes at any time.

Chipset and Storage Options

Honor Magic V2 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen2 chipset. This includes a fast Cortex-X3 core overclocked to 3.36 GHz. The device has two storage options: 12GB of RAM, 256GB, or 512GB of storage. There’s also a Master Edition called the Magic V2 that offers 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Camera and other features of Magic V2

On the back of the phone, the Magic V2 has a 50-megapixel main camera with f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). It is equipped with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module with f/2.0 aperture and a 20-megapixel telephoto module capable of 2.5x optical zoom, and it is also equipped with OIS.

The Magic V2 runs on Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2. It is equipped with a 5000mAh silicon carbon material battery for long-lasting use. The V2 supports 66W wired fast charging.

Prices, Colors, and Availability

Honor Magic V2 has a variety of colors to choose from, including velvet purple, elegant black (plain leather version), Yunxia gold, and velvet black. The basic model has 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, priced at 8,999 yuan. The 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is priced at 9,999 yuan. The high-end version of the Honor Magic V2 Ultimate Edition has 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage space and is priced at 11,999 yuan.
